In my dream last night I said, “why am I adhering to the laws of gravity?” And then.. I began to fly. It felt delicious.
Flying dreams fall under a category of dreams known as lucid dreams. Lucid dreams occur when you become aware that you are dreaming. Many dreamers describe the ability to fly in their dreams as an exhilarating, joyful, and liberating experience.
If you are flying with ease and are enjoying the scene and landscape below, then it suggests that you are on top of a situation. You have risen above something. It may also mean that you have gained a new and different perspective on things. Flying dreams and the ability to control your flight is representative of your own personal sense of power.
There really are places in the heart you don’t even know exist until you love a child. – Anne Lamott, Operating Instructions: A Journal of My Son’s First Year
Growing up, my parents were among the very few that were still married as many of my friends were products of divorce. While this was not an ideal situation, I remember the one thing that made it worse was hearing one parent speak negatively about the other parent or the people in that child’s life. I also noticed that it always had the reverse affect and caused that child to hate the one spewing the mean words.
Friend after friend all said the same things and expressed hurt, so as a kid I made a decision to never EVER speak negatively about the other parent in front of my child. no matter how you feel about that parent (and you chose them btw) your child should be able to form their own opinion and be allowed to view that parent as a superhero.
You will not always see eye to eye as you co-parent but you only hurt them by arguing in front of them or resorting to hurtful name calling in their presence.
I thought this was a great article..

Why don’t you..paint a map of the world on all four walls of your boys’ nursery so they won’t grow up with a provincial point of view? –Diana Vreeland
Diana Vreeland changed the face of fashion and she changed the minds of woman all over the world.
Her Harper’s Bazaar column in the 1930’s had the women of that day inspired to think outside the mundane. I love her. As an ode to DV I made up my own ‘why don’t yous’ and inspire you to do something different.. today and always…
So… Why don’t you….
…Stop watching TV for a week.
…Send an ‘eat your heart out’ pic to your ex with only the words “just saying hi” and when he calls or texts, don’t respond.
…Only listen to music from the 40’s for a spell.
…Acknowledge that your mom did the very best she could then call and thank her.
…Step it waay up at work and then… Ask for a raise.
…Take a trip to Paris with a girlfriend and when you get there make a new “friend”.
…Learn a new language.
…go on a vintage only shopping trip and buy something fabulous.
…Wear red today.
…Kiss a beauttiful stranger
Why don’t you?

“Just because I get in trouble doesn’t mean I don’t still love you. If you stop loving somebody over one thing then that’s not true love.”
